Abdulaziz said that, "I want to welcome you all to TCN. Some of you are quite familiar to me because I've known you for a long time; some up to thirteen years. You've been here for a long time and have executed many projects in Nigeria".

He added that "I believe we've started a great relationship already and we'll continue to work to strengthen our ties. I'm aware that you have started participating in our tender and have won one bid already. I want to assure you that whenever we're advertising, we'll invite you to bid".

On the request by the visitor to partner the company to fund some priority projects, the MD said that "we need to look at what we've done, what we're doing now to know where we can discuss further on your financial partnership proposal. But you can discuss this issue further with the General Manager, System Planning".

Earlier, the Chairman of CMEC, Mr. Fang Yanshui said that they were happy for the opportunity to interface with the management of the company to seek possible areas of partnership to expand the county's transmission network.

Yanshui said that "our business is not just generation because I know you're aware that we constructed the Omotosho Phase1 335MP power plant in 2002, the phase11 500MP in 2007, the Zungera 700MW hydropower project and a host of others. But we're not just into generation. We've expanded into transmission and have completed projects in Ivory Coast, Angola, etc".

He maintained that "our objective for the visit is to express our desire to be a long-term and strategic partners to TCN to build smart transmission networks, substations, and any other transmission project that's priority to the company. We've very capable hands and have worked in Nigeria for over thirty years. We initially started with telecommunication before moving fully into power ".

While urging the company to involve them in any smart metre project, he also pledged that "if there are priority projects that the company would want to execute, we will be willing to facilitate funding. We realise that most of the big projects are funded by international donors but China has not funded any. We've the resources to finance any priority projects by facilitating credit facility or we construct with a clear repayment plan".
