TCN, Other Power Stakeholders Meet Rivers Govt Officials



The Management of Port Harcourt Region of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and other stakeholders in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry on Monday, July 15, 2024, met with the Rivers State government to brainstorm on a power roadmap for the state.


Speaking, the Regional Transmission Manager, Port Harcourt Region, Engr. Emmanuel Apka, who led the TCN's  team to the meeting, hinted that the programme of the company to increase its wheeling capacity to make more bulk powers available to distribution load centres nationwide aligns with the State's vision.
 


He  noted that TCN has completed several projects in the region that directly benefits the state such as the recently  commissioned 100MVA transformers at both Port Harcourt Main and Port Harcourt Town, and a 60MVA transformer at Rumuosi Transmission Substations, among others.

On his part, the Rivers State Commissioner of Power, Solomon Abel Eke who led the government's team commended the stakeholders for turning up for the meeting despite initial hitches.

Eke explained that the essence of the meeting was to consult with stakeholders to develop a workable electricity roadmap for the state to actualize Governor Sim Fubara's vision of a 24/7 power supply in the state.

Other stakeholders in attendance were First Independent Power Limited (FIPL), Transafam Power and the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED).

The stakeholders in their different presentation, lamented that vandalization of power infrastructure in the state was the menace truncating efforts to provide reliable electricity supply.

While expressing their commitment to support the state's vision for a steady power supply, they however called for more collaboration and efforts to protect power infrastructure in the state.
