Adebiyi Emerges New NUEE National President

New NUEE President, Engr. Adedeye Adebiyi 

The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has elected Comrade Adedeye Adebiyi as the new national President of the union for a tenure of two years. 


Adebiyi who succeeds Engr. Martin Uzoegwu was elected at the 7th quadrennial/12th national delegates conference of the union held at the Base Event Centre, Enugu State on the 22nd of February, 2024. 


Amongst other executives elected in the conference include, Comrade Joachim Oforka as  Deputy President (South),  Comrade Ado Gaya, Vice President (North East), and Comrade Osakwe, CEC East. 


Speaking, the Managing Director/CEO of TCN, Engr. (Dr.) Sule Abdulaziz congratulated the new executives and charged them to work hard to uphold the interest of workers. 


Abdulaziz who was represented by Engr. Emmanuel Akpa, the General Manager Transmission, Enugu Region, thanked NUEE for the honour bestowed on him as the guest of honour at the national delegate Conference.


While assuring that TCN management is open to working closely with the new executives, he added that "this gathering stands as a testament to the collective commitment of our union members towards fostering innovation and progress within the electricity sector. I thank NUEE for its role in maintaining a peaceful and harmonious work environment in the sector".


In his acceptance speech shortly after his declaration, the new NUEE President assured members that under his watch, the union will be strengthened to fight for the welfare of staff. 


He commended the efforts and doggedness of the past leadership as well as the delegates for their patience throughout the electioneering period.


According to him, “this victory is for us all. This responsibility is for us all. We will diligently serve by exuding all potentials for service and maintain the integrity of this noble union".
