The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) successfully energized a 60/75 MVA power transformer at the Delta 132/33 kV Transmission Substation in Delta State on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at about 10:25 hours. This significant upgrade has increased the substation's capacity by 48 MW, bringing the total capacity to 144 MW. The energization of this transformer marks a crucial step in enhancing bulk power transmission within the region.
The TCN's efforts to boost power transmission capacity are ongoing, with plans to energize another 150 MVA transformer in the Delta Sub-Region soon. The upcoming upgrade will further enhance the reliability and stability of the grid, ensuring a more consistent power supply to meet the growing demands of the region.
According to the General Manager of TCN's Benin Region, Engr. C.C. Iwuamadi, the benefits of this upgrade include enhanced bulk power supply transmission, improved grid reliability and stability, and increased capacity to meet the growing demand for electricity in Delta State. These initiatives underscore TCN's commitment to improving power supply in Nigeria and meeting the country's growing energy needs.
