TCN Energises New 2X60MVA Power Transformers at Apapa Road Transmission Substation Lagos

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Lagos Region, successfully energised two newly installed 60MVA power transformers at its Apapa Road 132/33kV Transmission Substation, Lagos State, on Friday, 17 April 2026.

The addition of the two new transformers has increased the capacity of the substation, from 60MVA to 180MVA. Consequently, more bulk power is available at the substation for Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) to offtake for onward distribution to it's customers in Apapa Causeway, parts of Ijora, Amukoko, Ajegunle, Apapa Wharf, Tin Can, and environs.

This project was funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of ongoing efforts to improve bulk power transmission in Nigeria.
