TCN Transmission News
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Port Harcourt Region, held a community awareness campaign in Alaoji Aba, located within the Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of Abia state on August 28th, 2026. The campaign addressed growing concerns over infrastructure vandalism, Right of Way (RoW) encroachment around transmission towers.
Speaking during the engagement, the Assistant General manager (AGM)Aba Sub Region, Engr. Juliet Ndi Ukomadu warned, that the youth are repeatedly vandalizing TCN earthing wire, cable and tower members. This often resulting in cascading collapses that take down multiple towers simultaneously.
She urged stakeholders to break the silence on infrastructure sabotage and report any suspicious activities around TCN installations.
Engr. Ukomadu also enlightened residents on the dangers of vandalizing power infrastructure, erecting building within transmission Right of Way and advised them to desist from the act of vandalism and building under transmission lines.
In his speech, the Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Etang Edike addressed the Traditional Rulers and Youths President, noting that any individual caught will face the full wrath of the law, "The Civil Defence has stationed a dedicated patrol vehicle and six armed personnel ready to be deployed to any location upon call to apprehend vandals"
He urged members of the communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around transmission installations to security agencies or call him directly by his number.
Moreover, the traditional ruler of Ekiti Akoma Ngwa Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Elder Promise Oguibe, assured TCN of safeguarding the power infrastructure that traverse the community, while participants from the various communities also pledged their unalloyed collaboration with TCN and security agencies to safeguard the transmission facilities serving their localities.
