The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Kano Region, hereby informs the public that the current power outage being experienced along the 132kV Kumbotso–Dan Agundi Line 1 was caused by a system trip on earth fault at about 10:05pm on Monday, 22nd September 2026, during heavy rainfall and strong winds.
The line was immediately isolated to enable TCN maintenance crew conduct a thorough patrol and identify the fault.
During the patrol completed on Tuesday, 23rd September 2026, the maintenance team discovered a tilted cross-arm and a snapped conductor at two distinct locations between Towers T707 and T708. The affected cross-arm requires removal and reinstallation before the necessary repairs can be completed.
To minimize the impact of the outage on customers and commercial areas across Kano Metropolis, TCN has successfully transferred allocated loads from the 33kV feeders at the 132kV Dan Agundi Transmission Substation to other available 132kV substations within the Kano Electricity Distribution Company franchise, until restoration is complete.
TCN apologises for the inconvenience this forced outage has caused and assures affected consumers that efforts are ongoing to carry out the necessary repairs and restore normal bulk power supply as soon as possible.
