Ebonyi To Strengthen Ties With TCN

                             


                            

In an effort to address electricity challenges in Ebonyi State, the Governor, Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has promised a closer ties with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). This commitment came during a courtesy visit by the General Manager (Transmission) Enugu Region, Engr Emmanuel Akpa, and his management team to the Government House in Abakaliki.

During the visit, Engr Akpa expressed gratitude to Governor Nwifuru for his interest in TCN's activities in the state and commended the Governor's recent achievements. He highlighted ongoing power expansion projects in Ebonyi State, including the upgrading of the Abakaliki 132/33KV Sub-Station and the imminent commissioning of the 2X60MVA 132/33KV Sub-Station at Amasiri.

Engr Akpa also outlined plans for the Umuohara 330/132/33KV Sub Station, emphasizing the state's generosity in providing land for the project. He sought the Governor's intervention to expedite the commissioning process and facilitate discussions with TCN's management for further action.

Furthermore, Engr Akpa informed Governor Nwifuru about a proposed mobile transformer for Umuohara, highlighting the need for financial support to facilitate its relocation. The Governor, in response, pledged financial assistance and assured security for the mobile transformer.

Governor Nwifuru reiterated the significance of electricity in driving development in Ebonyi State and expressed concern over delays in power infrastructure projects. He encouraged collaboration between TCN and the state government through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), ensuring mutual benefits.


Addressing challenges related to land acquisition and encroachment, Engr Akpa appealed to the Governor to intervene, highlighting the impact on project implementation. He urged the Governor to engage other South-East Governors to address similar issues in the region.

The courtesy visit witnessed the presence of key officials, including the Deputy Governor, SSG, Commissioners, and representatives from TCN, underscoring the importance of partnership in advancing the state's power agenda.

In conclusion, Governor Nwifuru commended TCN for its efforts and reiterated the state government's commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving electricity supply in Ebonyi State.

The visit signifies a crucial step towards enhancing collaboration between TCN and the Ebonyi State Government, paving the way for accelerated progress in the power sector.
