The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, OFR, has lauded the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for upscaling infrastructural development in the Kano Region to enhance bulk power supply in the area.
Adelabu stated this during a recent visit to the Kano Region Head Office to inspect the ongoing rehabilitation and expansion of the 330/132/33kV Kumbotso Transmission Substation in Kano state.
Accompanied by the the Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider, Engr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye, Adelabu expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the project while reiterating government's commitment to improving electricity supply nationwide.
Also speaking, the General Manager, Transmission, Kano Region, Engr. Bashir M. Gote disclosed that the Kumbotso Substation currently has 4x150MVA installed capacity, with 2x100MVA power transformers recently commissioned at the 132kV level.
He added that another 300MVA transformer is undergoing installation to add to the available 600MVA on the 330kV level, thereby increasing the overall capacity to 900MVA.
