As part of ongoing efforts to rally stakeholders support in the fight against vandalisation of transmission installations across the country, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Osogbo Region held a critical meeting with officials of the Osun State government to discuss ways to improve security around power assets in the state.
The team which was led by the region's General Manager, Transmission, Engr A.O. Adeshina and received by the state's Commissioner for Energy, Mr Festus Adeyemo discussed the importance of strategic collaboration between the company and the state to curb vandalism as well as the violation of the Right of Way (RoW) within the state.
Adeshina appealed to the state government to intervene in the soil excavation activities of miners that pose serious threat to TCN's towers. He explained that the encroachment of TCN RoW hinders Linesmen from carrying out prompt maintenance on transmission lines and towers.
The GM reiterated TCN's commitment to completing the ongoing construction of the 2x60MVA, 132kV Ede Transmission Substation and the delivery of 1x60MVA transformer to the Ife Substation to increase its wheeling capacity to deliver more bulk electricity to the state.
Reacting, Adeyemo assured that the government will work closely with TCN and security agencies in the state to ensure improved security around TCN infrastructures in the state.
