In a bid to intensify fight against vandalism and other related issues, the Osogbo Regional Management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), hosted a delegation from the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), yesterday, January 8, 2025.
The meeting was aimed proving progress report on collaborative efforts of TCN and NSCDC to address the issues of Right of Way (RoW) encroachment, vandalism of transmission infrastructure, and soil excavation around tower bases.
Speaking, the General Manager, Transmission, Osogbo Region, Engr Adeshina Adeonipekun Olatunbosun expressed gratitude to the NSCDC for promptly giving attention to TCN's issues.
Also speaking, Principal Manager, Transmission, Osogbo Sub-Region, Engr. S.O. Alade, highlighted concerns such as fish pond water channelled towards transmission tower bases, compromising tower integrity. He also lamented the ongoing construction of new structures under transmission lines, as well as recent vandalism incidents.
On his part, the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Sotiyo Igbalawoke reaffirmed his organization’s commitment towards protecting TCN's infrastructure across the state. He noted that those violating RoW have been sensitized on the dangers and violations, and efforts to clamp down on vandalism are being intensified.
