TCN, Edo Govt Synergise To Combat Encroachment of Right of Way

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has partnered the Edo State government Task Force on protection of government properties to tackle the growing cases of encroachment of the Company’s Right of Way in the state.

In a meeting held on Monday April 7th, 2025 in the Benin Regional headquarters of TCN, the General Manager (Transmission),

Engr. C C Iwuamadi, lamented that some TCN projects have been delayed due to encroachment of its right of way.

Engr. Iwuamadi maintained that all stakeholders must collaborate with TCN to tackle the issue which is increasing the risk of electrocution, accidents, damage of infrastructures as well as loss of life.

The GM added that different measures have been taken to sensitize the people on the inherent dangers of living and doing business under the high voltage transmission power lines but some people have remained defiant.

The Benin Region helmsman appreciated the Edo governor, Monday Okpebholo

and the task force for their efforts to address the issue, noting that the new development will reduce the rate of encroachment experienced by TCN.

While urging the task force team to strictly enforce existing regulations and laws governing power transmission right of way in the state, he averred that government should also educate communities, organizations and individuals on danger of encroachment.

On his part, Mr. Ehigiamusoe Bright, the head of the Edo task force promised that his team will do everything possible to ensure the issue is addressed.
