TCN, Siemens Pledge Stronger Ties to Enhance Electricity Transmission

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with German energy giant Siemens Energy to strengthen bulk electricity transmission across the country.

Speaking at TCN’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja during a courtesy visit by a Siemens Energy delegation led by Regional Director for Grid Technologies and Sales Portfolio, Oladayo Orolu, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Sule Abdulaziz emphasized the company’s readiness to build on its long standing, mutually beneficial partnership with Siemens.

“We cherish our enduring relationship with Siemens Energy, which traces back to the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) era. We are confident in expanding future collaboration to deliver a sustainable, digitally transformed grid”, Abdulaziz stated.

The MD/CEO commended Siemens Energy for its sustained support to Nigeria’s power sector and urged the company to accelerate the implementation of all existing agreements.

He further highlighted the need for Siemens to establish a local warehouse for spare parts to minimize delays, reduce import dependency, and lower maintenance costs.

Earlier, Siemens team lead, Orolu delivered a presentation focused on advancing Nigeria’s grid digitalization through the deployment of advanced sensors for real-time monitoring and continuous system stability.

He explained that these sensors would provide comprehensive oversight of transformers and grid apparatuses nationwide, enabling operators to monitor performance, detect potential imbalances, and prevent system collapses.

The German company showcased the effectiveness of its digital grid solutions in countries like Georgia and referenced successful workshops previously held with distribution companies, including Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) in Lagos.
