A Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Committed Advocates of Integrity Initiatives (CADII) is set to partner the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, for the 4th edition of its National Integrity Summit (NIS)
Speaking, Secretary of the CSO, Francisca Ogbu, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of TCN, Engr. Sule Abdulaziz said that the NIS is coming up in June later this year.
Ogbu, who appreciated TCN for welcoming their partnership proposal, said that her organisation was working to build a strategic synergy with other agencies to re-instigate the culture of integrity in public service.
She maintained that the CSO which has affiliation with the United Nations is committed to building integrity by tracking policies to ensure that they align with the manifestos of political leaders as well as promotion of awards for outstanding individuals in the society.
According to her, "our core value is building integrity and we do this by organising the National Integrity Summit annually, tracking of policies to ensure they align with manifestos as well as promote the culture of awards for outstanding individuals that are not necessarily the high class in the society.
As part of our annual programme this year, we are organising a National Integrity Summit to re-instigate the need for integrity. We want to build a framework through institutions that promote anti-corruption. So, we are here to seek TCN's collaboration and support for our forthcoming NIS. We also want to feature the MD/CEO as one of our guest of honour who will speak to us during the summit. "
Responding, the MD/CEO of TCN said that the company was open to the partnership initiatives as the objectives as well as values of the CSO align with what the company is doing to curb corruption.
Abdulaziz, who was represented in the meeting by the Secretary, Anti-corruption and Transparency Monitoring Unit (ACTU) and General Manager, Legal (Independent System Operation), Barr. Bashir Hassan noted that "we're happy for what you're doing because in TCN, we attach so much value to integrity and accountability. So, we hope to participate in the summit in any way we can. "
The TCN Boss added that "in our company, we have the ACTU-unit where we sensitise and educate staff on anti-corruption, accountability and transparency in workplace. Moving forward, TCN is open for collaboration with you in other areas ".
