TCN Restores Power On Vandalised Kontagora-Yauri Transmission Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has restored electricity supply on the vandalised Kontagora-Yauri 132kV Single Circuit line.

The line was energized at 1:11 p.m., after the completion of rehabilitation and reconstruction work, including conductor stringing today, Thursday 18, 2024.

Consequently, the Yauri 132/33kV substation is now on full supply from the national grid.

Recall that on the 5th of April, 2024 at about 1801Hrs, Kontagora - Yauri 132kV Single Circuit line tripped on earth fault relay indication. On trial reclosure, the line tripped instantly. On patrolling the line the following day, TCN engineers discovered that towers T38, T39 and T40 have collapsed as they were totally vandalized.

In a swift response, TCN in-house engineers swung into action and reconstructed the three towers to restore the line within two weeks.

TCN appeals to host communities and security operatives to join hands in protecting transmission facilities against vandals.
